Fridge or Shelf? How Do YOU Store Your Butter?

We know that the average nuts ‘n more fan doesn’t have a jar that lasts longer than a week, given that it is so darn addictive! But, for those of you who somehow manage to control yourself around those delicious jars, let’s talk a bit about how you should store them so that they stay nice and fresh!

Since our butters are made with all natural ingredients, oil separation is common. If you receive your jars and find that this has happened, give them a good stir! Don’t run to the sink and drain the oil off or you will end up with dry and crumbly butter at the bottom! We want you to have that smooth, spreadable, protein packed experience from your first spoonful to your last!

After you have mixed them up (and maybe taste tested it 1, 2 or 3 times!), it’s time to decide where to store them. We recommend two options:

1) Storing the jars in a cool, dry place such as a shelf or cabinet away from appliances like a stove or microwave with limited light

OR

2) In your refrigerator. This will help prevent oil separation and give them a thicker consistency.

You may ask “Why?” we recommend these two places and you would be asking a great question! Since our butters do not contain any preservatives or additives, if they become exposed to warm temperatures, the peanuts or almonds can go rancid over time. The other healthy ingredient in our butters, flax, which has similar properties to peanuts and almonds,  can also become rancid under these same conditions.

Do you want another great storing tip? We recommend storing your jars upside down! This may sound funny, but it will ensure that the oil stays distributed throughout your jar!

Whether you store the jar on a cool shelf, in the refrigerator, right side up or upside down you can rest assured that you will have a fresh and flavorful jar available to you for up to 1 year! That is, if you can manage to keep it around that long!
