Weekly Transformation: Tyler
This week our Healthy Living Transformation is brought to us by our fan Tyler!
Hi my name is Tyler Anderson. I am a 19-year-old college student now living a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
Seven years ago I never would have thought I would be at peace with my body the way I am now. I had always been the “fat kid” in school. In 8th grade (2009) I was the heaviest I had ever been at 235lbs. In that moment, I told myself it was time for a change. In the next year or so, I started losing weight in a “healthy” manner. Soon, weight loss began to take over my life.
It was in 2011/2012 that I first developed an eating disorder. I was so scared of gaining weight because I had been so heavy throughout my life that it began to control my life. I was in constant fear of food and weight gain. This lead me to miss out on many meaningful family gatherings and social experiences with friends.
At the beginning of 2013, I met a woman named Darcy R, the owner and personal trainer at my local gym. I sat down with her and told her I just wanted to gain muscle. Over the next few months, Darcy had taught me that in order to grow, I needed to eat more. It was then that I realized I had a problem and that problem was an eating disorder.
Since then, I have found a passion for health, fitness and most importantly food. For so many years I feared peanut butter because it was “high in fat, which was going to make me ‘fat’.” Little did I realize at the time that this was the complete opposite. The fat in nuts is healthy fats which our bodies need. On my journey, I discovered Nuts N’ More and fell in love with it. It is a great balance of healthy fats, protein and carbs. I use it on my pancakes or in my oats for breakfast!
If you get anything out of my story, it would be that food is fuel and should not be feared no matter what the circumstances. Love your body and it will love you back.
